Imagine starting your adventure in Lima, flying to the ancient Inca capital of Cusco at an altitude of 3,700 meters, and then traveling through the sacred Urubamba Valley, along the railroad tracks that lead to Machu Picchu. The path takes you over a breathtaking 4,300-meter-high pass before you arrive after 5 hours in the subtropical oasis of Quillabamba. Here, Pumatiy operates its chocolate production and a charming café. But the real adventure only just begins: to reach their own Finca Sol Naciente in the Koribeni community, you have to travel another 2.5 hours into the jungle. Here, amidst the greenery, overseen by Efrain Puma and Lucia Champi, their cocoa has been growing and thriving for almost 30 years.

In 2015, Joel Puma Champi, the second generation, took over the reins to lead the small family business into the future. From the pure cultivation and sale of cocoa beans, the company also began processing and initially offered cocoa paste. Over the years, the company has established itself as a successful manufacturer of first-class chocolate with Chuncho cocoa and has already won numerous national and international awards.
